Why Learning in Shijiazhuang?

While Shijiazhuang might not carry a five star rating in tourist guide books, it is an ideal location for immersion Mandarin study. Although you may never have heard of Shijiazhuang, it is a large, rapidly growing, and very modern Chinese city. You will finds an infrastructure and technology level that is familiar to you. There are high-rise glitz laden shopping malls, movie theatres, concert halls, and karaoke bars, all existing intertwined with ancient temples, maze-like bazaars, open air markets and dozens of botanical parks. You will live in a level of comfort that is approximate to what you are used to at home, but you will be immersed in a uniquely Chinese environment that comes with a large provincial capitol that has a dazzling mix of the modern and the traditional, but is wholly Chinese.

Learning Chinese in Shijiazhuang has a number of advantages over learning in Beijing, Shanghai, or any other of the large cities in China. The most important point, the advantage of Shijiazhuang is a linguistic one. Standard Mandarin is spoken natively by 90% of the population of Shijiazhuang. Those familiar with the incredible plasticity of oral Chinese will recognize this as an uncommon and very special attribute. What this means for our students is that every contact hour both in and outside of the classroom will reinforce the course material.

Testimonial

Andy - "I graduated from UCSD in June and decided to take a year off. I had learned Italian and Spanish and wanted to learn a 4th language. Chinese seemed like a good choice as it is the most spoken language in the world, and the Chinese economy is exploding. I chose SCEC because of the flexibility of their program in terms of start dates and hours of instruction. I am currently living in a nice 2 bedroom apartment in the center of the city and have 4 hours per day of 1 on 1 instruction." ....."As far as SCEC goes, I would highly recommended their school. They continually make every effort to ensure that I am comfortable and happy. The quality of instruction is high and the accommodations good, but what really comes across are their friendly personalities and responsiveness to my needs / desires."

Corinne - "SCEC provided a fantastic service for my 6 month study program. The level of Mandarin I was able to achieve in such a short time is amazing, I learned more in my six months with SCEC than in two and a half years of studying Chinese in university in Australia. My apartment was great, the SCEC staff took excellent care of me and made me feel like family. Spot on guys!"

JONATHAN - I have come to China under different circumstances than most.  I came to study Taichi and Chinese.  My Taichi school is on the outskirts of town and my schedule is quite busy.  SCEC found me an excellent two bedroom apartment close to my school with everything I wanted and more.  They also found a brilliant Chinese teacher to give me lessons nearby my apartment.  Within a matter of months I had a working knowledge of Chinese.

My relationship with SCEC has never felt like business.  Since my arrival 6 months ago, they have always made sure that I am comfortable. If you need or want anything, they will make sure you get it.  SCEC has gone beyond all expectations.  Thanks guys.

Dave - "I have no hesitation at all in recommending SCEC as a recruitment company."

"They have always promptly replied to any e-mail that I have sent them while I was living in the U.K, and answered any questions that I was unsure of. On arrival at the Beijing airport I was met by a beautiful young Chinese lady who could speak English."

Creshia - "Thank you all for a very enjoyable experience and if you need any recommendations let me know!  My Chinese Teacher was great, and I've definately made friends for life, I learned a lot and I can't wait to come back next year. Lots of Love to everyone and see you all again soon."

George and Micah - " We are having a great time in China, and strongly recommend SCEC to anyone who wants to study in China, and their programs are great for couples. They are reliable and professional, and they put a lot of personal care into making sure that we are comfortable and happy."
