Italian company is involved in extracting and processing basalt rock (lava stone).

The company boasts its own basalt quarry, one of the few ones in Europe and a plant for the extraction of the rock. Basalt rock is a stone derived from the hardening of lava from the eruption center of mount vesuvio. It is of a light-grey colour with some crystals of leucite, immersed in microcrystal structure, sometimes compact and sometimes in slip-lines. It is a well constructed material with excellent possibilities of workmanship; it is extracted in large blocks and it can be processed in a lot of ways, becoming from time to time different objects, like floor tiles, steps, window-sills, open fires, columns etc. For its elegance it is mainly used for massive floor, cladding, restoration, funeral-art, etc. Pieces dimension can be decided with the company´s offices and the customer´s project needs. Technical tests have been carried out on the stone: On the basis of uni standards it has been defined a leucotefrite with the following characteristics: Heavy compact hard with high values of compression breaking, flexural breaking test, impact test. It can also be considered a frost-proof material.
